Dear MVISD Community, I am writing to express my support for the passing of the bond for both Proposition A and B. As a recent graduate and student-athlete from Mount Vernon High School, I believe that investing in our school and providing top-notch facilities is one of the most important things we can do for our students and future generations.

I can personally attest that the passing of the bond in 2014 to build a new gymnasium with state-of-theart equipment, locker rooms, and weight room contributed to my positive experience as a student-athlete. Each basketball or volleyball game I played in the gym over the course of four years made me feel proud to represent my school and provided my teammates and me with the proper tools for success. There is no doubt that passing this bond was a huge step in leading my basketball team and coaches to win a state championship in 2018.

Investing in our high school’s facilities is not just about improving the quality of our sports or extracurricular programs. It is also about creating a sense of pride and community within our school. Athletics, extracurricular activities, and academic excellence are all key components of Mount Vernon’s culture, and having top-notch facilities will help to attract talented students and athletes, dedicated teachers and coaches, and foster a stronger sense of school spirit.

I urge you to pass this bond and make an investment in our students and our community. I believe that by doing so, we will create a better future for all of Mount Vernon.

Sincerely, Samantha Lowry Class of 2019
