Betty Jane Parks, age 91, of Kaufman, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024.

She was born on November 2, 1932, in Mount Vernon, Texas to Lloyd and Mildred “Draper” Stephens.

Funeral services will be scheduled for Betty on February 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home with Rev. Pepper Puyear officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Mount Vernon City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her parents.

Betty was a beautiful, dynamic woman, who lived a rich and fascinating life. She graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Betty had many gifts. She was an accomplished artist, pianist, seamstress, homemaker, and an amazing cook. We will all miss those delicious thanksgivings. Betty always spent weeks setting up Christmas displays turning her home into a fairytale wonderland that made Christmas so special for all of us.

Betty held several important positions, including many years as office manager for LH Lacey construction company. She lived in multiple locations abroad, and even spent time working for the American Embassy overseas. Betty was blessed with the ability to travel the world and experience many other cultures. At home in the states, Betty enjoyed her friends, church, and especially her Joy Sunday School Class. She was a woman who loved her family with all of her heart. She will be greatly missed, and we will greatly miss her.

Betty is survived by her son, Rodney Mc-Peters; daughter and son-in-law, Redonna and Kerry Kochiss; her three grandchildren, Amber Brown, David Kochiss, Kevin McPeters, and seven great grandchildren.
