Doyle D. Nelson, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023. He was born on July 29, 1931, in Van Alstyne, Texas to Hardie D Nelson and Alma Ruth Canada Nelson. He married JoAnna Harbuck on August 3, 1951, in Irving, TX.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Damon Nelson, and Jerry Nelson; and an infant son, Bryan D. Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years; daughter Janet Nelson Hester and husband, Tom(Winnsboro, TX), daughter Nancy Nelson Jackson and husband, Tim(Quitman, TX), son Russell Scott Nelson and wife, Cindy(Mc-Gregor, TX); grandchildren: Matt Jackson, (Lindale, TX), Anna Zachary,(Bettie, TX), Elizabeth Jackson Miller, (Bettie, TX), Adam Nelson,(Dallas, TX), and Ben Nelson(North Richland Hills, TX).He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

His Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, May 18, at Church on the Rock in Quitman, TX. Visitation at 1:00 and service at 2:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doyle can be made in his memory to Texas Scottish Rites Children’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas: 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219, and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
