Mary Estelle Bane, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Plano, Texas. She was born to Elton Virgil and Vesta Rogers on October 5, 1936, as the youngest of three children in Artesia Wells, Texas.

Mary married William (“Willie”) Bane on August 9, 1958. Mary was a long-time speech therapist at numerous public schools across Texas, but her favorite job was working as an usher along with Willie for the Texas Rangers, giving her the opportunity to attend every home game.

After retiring, Mary was active in the Mount Vernon, Texas community and First United Methodist Church. Her love for the Lord was reflected by her work with Stephen Ministries where she provided one-to-one care to those experiencing a challenging time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation. Mary will always be remembered for her passion for reading, a good game of bridge and the joy she received when family and friends would gather at Lake Cypress Springs.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Richard Rogers and Ruth Erickson.

Survivors include son, Toby Bane and wife, Georgina who reside in Grand Prairie, Texas, with their children Sarah, Andrew, Sophie and Abigail; Edward Bane and wife, JanaBeth, who reside in Houston, Texas, with their children Madelyn and Hanson; and daughter Mary Leslie Bane Degan and husband, Mark, who reside in Plano, Texas, with their children Christopher and Collin. Mary is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A public graveside service will take place at 2:00 pm on March 16 at West Hill Cemetery, 1304 W Lamar St, Sherman, Texas
