Michael “Mike” Douglas Childress, age 72, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Paris, TX. He was born on October 2, 1951 in Clarksville, TX the son of Doug and Zona Childress. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Idabel Gray High School. He married his wife Darla on December 10, 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church Idabel as a youth and young man. Mike was a member of the Double R Cowboy Church in Clarksville, TX.

Mike spent many years working in the family business (Piggly Wiggly Grocery Stores) and also worked at KCAR (Kool 98.5) Radio where he was known as “Poor Old Mike”.

Mike was an avid golfer to say the least and was very talented at it from a very young age. He was a member of the Clarksville Country Club where he was Club Champion multiple times. In retirement Mike was a carpenter which consisted of work in the morning and Golf every afternoon.

Mike was very devoted to his family and was a wonderful Husband, Dad, Paw, Papaw and Brother. He had a huge personality, was alot of fun to be around and If you ever met Mike you were a friend for life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Zona Childress.

Mike is survived by his wife, Darla Childress of Clarksville, TX; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jess Childress of Washington, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Tasha Childress and Chad Pitcock of Paris, TX; sisters and brothersin- law, Judy and Ken Moore of Idabel, OK and Jane and Manny Avila of Clarksville, TX; grandchildren, Dylan Childress, Lexie Billy, Chloe Halley, Melah Halley, Kylie Childress, Trinity Cassell, Nikki Cassell, Cole Childress and Maddison Childress; a great- granddaughter, Lydia Kate Billy; many cousins along with several nieces, nephews other relative and friends.

Funeral services were to be held at yesterday at the Double R Cowboy Church in Clarksville, TX with Pastor Tracy Williams and pastor Mark Ritchey officiating.
