Richard Barrett, 83, a resident of Mt. Vernon, Texas will be 11:00 A.M Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Denton Baptist Church.

Burial in Denton Cemetery, Mt.

Vernon, Tx under the direction of Tumey Mortuary, Mt. Pleasant.

He died, Sunday, April 23, 2023.

He was born August 18, 1939 in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Fletcher and Dolly (Rutherford) Barrett.

He attened Denton Elementary in Mt. Vernon and graduated in 1959 from Booker T. Washington High School, Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

He married the love of his life, Linda Faye Hatcher, in March of 1962.

He was a member of the Denton Baptist Church where he served as co-chairman of the deacon board. While there, he served in many other capacities. He also served first district as treasurer in the Cypress District Association. He was a member of Holy City Lodge #271.

He worked at the Texas Department of Public Safety and later Luminant Mining Company. He retired after 20 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years Linda Barrett; son Richard D. Barrett (Sandray) of Dallas, Tx; His daughter Cherilyn Rape (Kevin) of Mt. Pleasant, Tx; two grandchildren Mistarya Brigham of Mt.

Vernon, Tx; and Legend Barrett of Dallas, Tx; one brother William Barrett of Mt. Pleasant; one brother-in-law Alvin Hatcher (Darlene) of Mt. Vernon; two sisters-in-law Dianna Gale Bozeman of Pittsburg and Peggy Hatcher of Sulphur Springs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Public viewing, Friday, April 28, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
