The Lady Raiders continued to tear up the District 13-3A field and are holding down the top spot with an 1110 win over Mount Vernon on April 3 and an 11-7 win over MP Chapel Hill on April 4. Winnsboro is 8-0 with four games remaining on the district schedule. Mount Vernon (6-2 record) has a solid hold on the runner up spot while Mineola (4-4), Harmony (4-4) and Quitman (4-3) will battle for the last two playoff berths. Chapel Hill (1-6) and Winona (0-7) are out of contention.

Winnsboro travels to Winona for a Thursday game before heading to Harmony for an April 11 contest. After an April 14 bye, they wrap up the district schedule at Mineola on April 18 and home for Quitman on April 21. The postseason begins April 27.

Repeated rounds of heavy rain disrupted the March 31 game at Mount Vernon. The game was initially moved to April 3 at Mount Vernon but had to be relocated to Sulphur Springs High. Each team scored a run in the first inning and Winnsboro took a 5-3 advantage after three. Both scored runs in the fourth and Mount Vernon flipped the script to tie it 8-8 on the strength of a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth.

Greenlee Mayberry led off the seventh with a run scored. A misplayed infield popup gave her first base and as the speedy junior went for second, a Tigers throwing error that carried to the wall allowed her to score the go-ahead run. Two walks and two singles helped push Winnsboro ahead 11-8 and that was just enough cushion to hold on for the win.

Statistical leaders included Lilly Rulison who scored three runs on four hits with two RBIs and Mayberry who recorded two runs on three hits with an RBI. Alyssa Stansbury posted three hits and two RBIs and Emily Clark posted two hits with three RBIs.

Winnsboro and Chapel Hill were tied at 7-7 through six innings, but Winnsboro put together four runs in the seventh to secure the win. Devin Grimes recorded four RBIs, Rulison and Stansbury posted two RBIs each and Rulison scored three runs to lead the effort.
