Lady Tigers to play Bears for bi-District

The Mount Vernon High School varsity Lady Tiger softball team will play Harmony Bears for the Bi-District Championship in a best two out of three series.

The bi-district series begins Thursday, April 27 in Hooks. The second game will be played at Harmony Friday, April 28. If necessary, a third game will be played Saturday at Harmony. All three games are set for starting at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are to be sold at the gate with $5 for adults, and $3 for students. All district and senior passes will be accepted for the games.

The winner of our series will play the winner of the West Rusk and Sabine bi-district series. Games for Area are expected to be Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6 due to STARR testing schedules. No projections are yet made for location(s).

The Lady Tigers have a 23-9-1 season record and a 10-2 district record for a solid second place in the University Interscholastic League District 13-3A .

The Lady Tigers closed their regular season with a 13-0 shutout against Harmony last Friday.

The Tigers had 14 hits in the game. Ashtyn Redar, Summer Rogers, Natalie Norwood and Cameron Pope each had two hits apiece. Alexa Taylor pitched four innings allowing one hit and no runs, , striking out six and one walk. Hammons threw one inning of relief.

They hosted a practice game against Pleasant Grove Monday for a 6-0 shutout.
