A 15-1 loss to Linden- Kildare ended the Rivercrest Rebels’ playoff hopes in the final game of the 2023 baseball season.

While L-K dominated most innings, leadoff hitter Mark Grider’s single in the fourth that scored Cayden Williams avoided the skunk.

The Rebels graduate four seniors this year: Zane Dees, Charles Duffer, Dylan Early and Ethan Taylor.

Rivercrest’s Lady Rebels’ stingy defense enters post-season softball play Friday against the power-hitting Linden-Kildare Lady Tigers at Paris High School softball field.

The Lady Tigers (197) and Lady Rebels (13-8) have identical records against common opponents, but Linden-Kildare has won with higher scores, a sign of an offensive ball club.

But Lady Rebels Coach Kara Crawford said she has a plan: “They are a strong hitting team, so we will count of solid defense, tough pitching and communication on the field,” she said, initiated by starting pitcher Victoria Torres’ fastball.

The Rebels are not without their own power hitters form the middle of the order in the persons of sisters Avery (3rd base, .460) and Addison Martin (1st base, .409). Leadoff hitter and 2nd base Logan Huddleston (2nd base, .260) is also a hitting threat.

The match-up will follow a 6 p.m. previously scheduled game, so starting time may be delayed.
