The Mount Vernon High School Varsity Tiger Track and Field team finished third and the Varsity Lady Tigers were fourth in overall points for the UIL District 13-3A meet at Mineola High School last week.

The varsity girls collected 92 points for a fourth place win behind Harmony - third with 122, Mineola - second with 138, and Quitman - first with 150. The varsity girls claimed three first, four second, two third, three fourth, two fifth, one sixth and seventh and three eighth place finishes.

The girls 400-Meter Relay team claimed first with a time of 49.82. Team members in order of their runs were Iieanis Ablino-Santiago, Addison Norwood, Rachel Dunn, and Aaliyah Traylor.

Dunn took first in the long jump with a jump of 17 feet 61/4 inches. Olivia Baird took first in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet even.

Second places were claimed by Jamyya Monroe in the shot put with a distance of 31 feet 8 inches; Addison Norwood in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.88; Rachel Dunn in the 100 meter dash, at 12:97; and the 400 meter relay team of Ileanis Ablino-Santiago, Rachel Dunn, Olivia baird, Aaliyah Traylor with a time of 1:47.42.

Third place finishes were recorded by Braleigh Wood in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.53.

Fourth place finishes were recorded by Megan Knighton, 51.23, in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles, Ileanis Ablino-Santiago, 15’ 4” in the long jump, Aaliyah Traylor, 33’ 6” in the triple jump; and the mile or 1600 meter relay team of Lizbeth Garcis, Meaka Johnson, Annabelle Gutierrez, Addison Norwood, and alternate Addisen Ross with a time of 4:19.90.

Alexa Copeland placed sixth in the high jump with a height of 4’ 6”.

Adding to the team points were eighth place finishers Jamyya Monroe, discus, 69’ 5”; Amber Alford, 1600 meter run, 6:25.05; and Lizbeth Garcis, 110 high hurdles, 18:81.

* The varsity boys collected 96 points for third place behind Winnsboro in second with 109 and Mineola with 166.5 points. The boys claimed three first, two second, two third, one fifth, three sixth, one seventh and two eighth place finishes.

The 400 meter relay team finished first with a time of 42.18. Members of the team were Kale Roethle, Mackenzie McGill, James Mitchell, and Gavin Rainey.

Roethle took first place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.40, and first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.60.

Mc Gill won first in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet 10 inches.

Claiming second place medals were McGill in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.31, and Gavin Rainey in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.51.

Fifth place finishes were recorded by the 800 meter relay team of James Mitchell, Ashton Moton, Jaden Doss and Dawson Witherspoon with a time of 1:34.84; and sixth places were captured by Rainey in the high jump at 5’ 6”, Boone Morris in the discus with a distance of 117’ 1 ½”, and Jaden Horton in the triple jump with a distance of 40’ 6 ½ “.

Adding to the total with a seventh place finish ws James Mitchel in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.33, and eighth place finisher Erik Quinones in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.58.
