Hayden Deaton captured gold in the long jump (20 feet, five inches) and triple jump (42-05) during the Mineola Yellowjacket Relays on April 6. David Soto finished first in the 800 (2:00.27) and second in the 3200 (9:23.82). Faith Acker earned top honors in the shot put with a toss of 35 feet, nine inches.

Four teams out of District 13-3A competed in the Mineola event which can provide a brief baseline for how Winnsboro athletes stack up against the competition in the upcoming district meet.

Mineola hosts the twoday district meet April 1213. Results were not available at press time. Field events and running prelims were held Wednesday and running finals were slated for Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. All at Yellowjacket Stadium in Mineola.

Other top performers at last week’s Yellowjacket Relays included secondplace finishes from Sam Sheffield (100, 11.40), Jacob Russell (200, 22.97), Brandon Dunavant (1600, 4:45), Kyler Finney (300 hurdles, 42.36), Angel Hernandez (discus, 138-01), and Sol Torres (long jump, 15-11).

Third-place honors belonged to Will Wilcox (100, 11.83), Torres (100, 13.18; 200, 27.13), and Ky’Lee Nichols (300 hurdles, 50.76).
