Clarksville Middle School students traveled to Maud in December where they placed in seven out of nine entered events in the District 16 UIL competition. CMS faced students from Detroit, Harts Bluff, James Bowie, Maud and Rivercrest.

Every year for the last eight years Christus Mother Frances Winnsboro has held a Christmas wreath silent auction. The event usually takes place some time in November with the earnings from this auction being donated in January to one local institution, the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center.

Female victims gave emotional testimony for the past several days, many times through tears, detailing how former NHL’s Dallas Stars center alleged raped and made unwanted physical contact while out on Lake Cypress on June 23, 2021.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present the “Predictions for 2024 Texas Livestock Markets” webinar on Feb. 1 from noon to 1 p.m. The webinar will focus on state and national trends for cattle, sheep and goat markets.

The City of Mount Vernon and the Franklin County Industrial Foundation are partnering to create a housing development on 46 acres south of the School. Last week the Industrial Foundation had their quarterly meeting and bought 12.7 acres on Hwy 37 to the north of Meadow Park Baptist Church.
