The Mount Vernon Middle School and Mount Vernon High School cheer teams competed at the NCA (National Cheerleaders Association) High School Nationals and secured national championship titles. The MVMS Cheer Team brought home the Middle School/Junior High Game Day National Champion title, as well as the Sideline Spirit Award and the Technical Excellence Award.

It was the opening week of one of the biggest celebrity trials in Mount Vernon’s history, the first jury trial in more than six years. Female victims gave emotional testimony for the past several days, many times through tears, detailing how former NHL’s Dallas Stars center alleged raped and made unwanted physical contact while out on Lake Cypress on June 23, 2021.

Cheatham Elementary School Chaplain Harold Massey thanked Clarksville School Board trustees for their support in the campus’s ongoing effort to promote and encourage community and parental involvement with students. “That would include them reading with [the students] or helping them get out of the car in the morning,” Massey said.

Recognition CISD honors School Board during Appreciation Month Clarksville Independent School Board trustees were recognized during the January regular meeting by CISD students, staff and administrators for their dedication to their role in the future of the education system, part of School Board Appreciation Month. This year’s theme, Locally Elected, Community Connected, highlights the commitment made by school board trustees to champion the needs of the students and enhance educational opportunities.
