A golden age of state parks may be glimmering on the horizon. This November Texas voters will have the chance to approve a $1 billion fund to create new state parks – the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund.

A modern-day hunt for buried treasure concluded this past Saturday, July 8, at the old Mineola Post Office, now the Mineola Historical Museum. It is a story of scattered puzzle pieces and of an amateur historian with the passion needed to piece them together.

Saturdays are always eventful downtown, but second Saturdays May through October are something special. The Coldwell-Banker Lake Haven North Star Team took first place in the 2023 Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Amazing Race for Franklin County for the second consecutive year. The four woman team of Pam Swanner, Kaitlyn White, April Faulker and Mary Wade, took home a split share of $1,500 in prize money and another $500 that will go to the PAWS of Franklin County.
