Council approves police spending

Updates from Clarksville Police and Fire Clarksville Police department will soon see an upgrade to its video storage and reporting equipment after Police Chief Tommy Hunt recommended the switch to a data platform that would streamline the department’s in-car camera system. Axon is a technology company specializing in hardware devices and software, including TASER energy devices, body-worn cameras, incar cameras, cloud-hosted digital evidence management solutions, productivity software and real-time operations capabilities.

Clarksville City Council members approved spending of American Rescue Plan Act funds, though they decided to postpone the purchase and installation of a bar screen for the wastewater plant. City Council Member Gary Gray said when the city first began discussing bar screens, were around $250,000, but that number has now increased to $475,000.
