Winnsboro Senior Center is facing a dilemma at the end of this month when Doc’s Senior Center closes its doors at the end of the month, leaving senior citizens without a regular place to meet. Winnsboro Senior Center had its start in 1989 and operated from the Winnsboro ISD administration building until it closed after a fire in 2020.

The Mount Vernon Independent School District Board of Trustees met in an emergency meeting just after noon Monday, April 24 to review an application and hire a second peace officer. The district has hired Heather Moore, currently an officer with the Winnsboro Police Department.

Voter interest seems high with early voting over one thousand ballots with both the Franklin County Water District and Mount Vernon Independent School District boards and school’s bond election day being Saturday.
