Mount Vernon ISD’s Cross Country teams ran at the Miller Grove High School Invitational Cross Country Meet Thursday, Sept 14 where two varsity girls finished in the top 10 and varsity boys and junior high teams had eight to set personal best times.

Tigers fall 30-27 in final second

A field goal decided it with one second left on the scoreboard last week. Although the Tigers kicked a field goal just four plays earlier to tie the game, it was a Sabine Cardinal’s field goal in the last second of the game that sent the Tigers home with their first loss of the year.

Running Raiders, Dunavant with Another Top Five

Brandon Dunavant led the way for the Running Raiders with a fifth-place finish overall and a time of 16 minutes, 20 seconds on the 5K course at Saturday’s Quitman Bulldog Invitational. Joseph Nguyen (11th, 17:18), Taylor Whitehurst (16th, 17:59), Adriano Trigoso (49th, 18:49) and Raidan Blair (84th, 21:55) rounded out the top five for the fifth-place team score.

Rugged Red Knock Out New Boston

QB Kyler Finney took it 73 yards to the house on the first play of Winnsboro’s 56-21 win over New Boston Friday at Rugged Red Stadium. Winnsboro moves to 4-0 against non-district opponents with the win.
