Brandon Dunavant earned a trip to the UIL Class 3A State Meet with a 10 th place finish at the Region 2 meet held Monday, October 23, at Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie. Dunavant completed the 5K course with a time of 17 minutes, 11 seconds.

The Mount Vernon Tigers Varsity Football team dominated the Rain High School Wildcats, scoring 42 points and holding the host team to 12 points in their fourth district game. The Tigers are 2-2 in district, 5-3 for the season.
The Lady Tigers are fourth place in district as they prepare for their last two district games of the year. Mount Vernon (1216, 3-5 in district) will travel to Quitman tonight and Harmony on Tuesday with games starting at 6:30p.m.
