The Mount Vernon Tiger Varsity Football team will travel to Pottsboro for the final Region II3A District 5 game of the season with kickoff at 7 p.m. “I’m not ready to predict the winner of this one,” said Clayton George, head football coach and athletic director for the Mount Vernon ISD in a program for the Mount Vernon Rotary Club.

Rugged Red Romps Over Bonham in District Finale

The Rugged Red completed a perfect season with a 65-6 victory over Bonham in the District 5-3A finale. With the win, Winnsboro accomplished the quest for an outright district championship. Following the bye week, they will face Atlanta, the fourth-place team out of District 6, in the bi-district round of the playoffs. The game will be played Thursday, November 9, at Longview Lobo Stadium; kickoff at 7 p.m.

Volleyball teams enter first round of playoffs

The Detroit Lady Eagles wrapped up a flawless nine-game district win streak to claim the District Championship, although they secured the title weeks ago. Rivercrest takes third place in district 2A District 17, but not before an upset victory over Harts Bluff last week and a win on Tuesday for their last home game of the season over the Clarksville Lady Tigers.
