The Rugged Red bounced Atlanta out of the Class 3A playoffs with a 30-14 win at Longview Lobo Stadium on November 9. With a halftime score of 14-all in wind and pouring rain, Winnsboro took care of the ball and their business in the second half with 16 unanswered points to secure the win.

For a third year in-a-row, the Lady Eagles have made it to the Regional Quarterfinals just to be defeated with an Area Championship Title. “We were not satisfied with where we ended up, we wanted more,” said Volleyball coach Jeff Allensworth.

It was a rough year for all three Red River County Football teams as they did not make the playoffs this season. Clarksville The Tigers finished their season 2-7, 2-3 in District as the last place finisher in a three-way tie for third, fourth and fifth places in district.

The Mount Vernon High School Varsity Volleyball Team lost last week’s Area playoff match against Hughes Springs 3-1 in the second round of the 2023 University Interscholastic League’s Volleyball 3A Regions 1 & 2 tournament.

“And just like that”, the Tigers went from fourth place to second place UIL District 5 3A finishers with a 4538 win over the Pottsboro Cardinal and will now face third place District 6 Gladewater Bears.

The Lady Raiders tipped off the 202324 campaign at the Argyle Classic on November 3-4. The team is coming off another state appearance, the third in the last four seasons, and will be sporting a new look.

Clarksville The Tigers will be looking for a win tonight at Cumby to secure a third place playoff spot in 2A-2 District 9 standings. Clarksville (26, 2-2) will play in Cumby(2-7, 1-3) at 7:30p.m.for their last district game.

Detroit The Lady Eagles continue their playoff run after a week of wins in the playoffs. Detroit beat Ore City in three sets Monday before taking down Timpson that went the whole five sets.
