Tigers fall to Red Raiders, defeat Yellowjackets

The Mount Vernon High School Varsity Tigers Baseball team split their games this last week with a loss to Winnsboro on Friday and a win against Mineola on Tuesday night. The Tigers lost the game against the Red Raiders to end with a 3-2.The game was scoreless until Winnsboro put one in the bottom of the fourth followed by two in the fifth.

Lady Raiders undisputed district leader

The Lady Raiders continued to tear up the District 13-3A field and are holding down the top spot with an 1110 win over Mount Vernon on April 3 and an 11-7 win over MP Chapel Hill on April 4. Winnsboro is 8-0 with four games remaining on the district schedule. Mount Vernon (6-2 record) has a solid hold on the runner up spot while Mineola (4-4), Harmony (4-4) and Quitman (4-3) will battle for the last two playoff berths. Chapel Hill (1-6) and Winona (0-7) are out of contention.

Chayne Tedford with Inside-the-Park Round Tripper The Red Raiders ran their District 13-3A record to 5-1 with wins over Mount Vernon 3-2 on March 31 and MP Chapel Hill 11-7 on April 4. This completes the team’s first pass through the District 13-3A field.
