Robert A. Draper 1937 - 2023

Robert A. Draper passed away in his home on September 30, 2023. Robert was born in Wylie, Texas on August 8, 1937, to AJ and Bobbie “Stone” Draper. Robert’s family moved to Mount Vernon when he was a young boy. His parents bought a piece of property in Mount Vernon that would later become Robert and his wife, Norma’s home till their passing. Their beautiful home and property were kept perfectly manicured by Robert and was admired by everyone who passed on Interstate 30. Robert and Norma married February 22, 1958, in Mount Vernon, Texas and soon after moved to Arlington to begin his long successful career with Commercial Metals and grow a family of three sons.

Margaret E. Woodard (Mayes)

Margaret E. Woodard (Mayes) was born on February 17, 1933, to Benjamin W. Woodard and Florence Bright Woodard in Winnsboro Texas. Margaret was one of eight siblings and grew up in a small but tight-knit rural community. She graduated from Cartwright High School and moved to the big city of Dallas to live and work with her younger sister and cousin in downtown Oak Cliff. It is during this time she met and fell in love with a young soldier by the name of Floyd Mayes. They married in August 1958 in an intimate ceremony and immediately moved to Salina, Kansas where they were stationed at Schilling Air Force Base. All three of her children were born in Salina while stationed there.

Karla Sue (Rogers) Webber “Momma Karla” of Mount Vernon, Texas was called home September 7, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Karla was born October 5, 1960, in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Larry Dean and Peggy Rue (Evans) Rogers. She married the love of her life, Roy Olen Webber on November 18, 1977. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2018, after 41 years of marriage.
