Halle Deaton drives through traffic on her way to the basket versus Mineola on January 30. The Lady Raiders completed a 12-0 run and have earned the District 13-3A crown. They head into the postseason with a bi-district contest versus New Boston, the fourth-place team out of District 14. The game is slated for Monday, February 12, at Longview Lobo Coliseum with a 6:30 p.m. tip off. Tickets are $5 adults, $3 students; all passes accepted.

Clarksville Boys The Clarksville Tigers will play their second home game in a row, when Clarksville hosts the Detroit Eagles on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Clarksville enters the game riding high after upsetting league favorite Harts Bluff 49-48 in a thriller on Tuesday night.

The Tigers split games in the past week, winning at Mineola 55-39, but lost to Chapel Hill at home 75-37. The Mount Vernon Tigers are 5-5 in district play as they prepare for tonight’s game at Quitman before playing their last two district games of the season at home next week.

The Mount Vernon Ladies basketball teams are riding high after another major win at home Tuesday. The Lady Tigers are now in a solid second place in district, behind Winnsboro, and will be going to playoffs.

The Red Raiders are right back in the thick of District 13-3A competition with their fifth win in a row. After opening the district schedule 0-3 with a couple of near misses, the boys have roared back to win five straight.

The Lady Raiders reached 50 straight wins against district opponents with an 86-38 rout against Mineola on Tuesday. Including wins over district opponents in the postseason, the streak reaches 53. Winnsboro’s last loss to a district foe came January 24, 2020, against MP Chapel Hill. The Lady Red Devils were coming off a state championship in 2019.
