Clarksville Boys The Clarksville Blue Tigers will play in a critical district game on this Friday when the Tigers travel to James Bowie. Clarksville fell to 1-3 in league play on Tuesday night losing to Maud at home by a 50-44 score.

The Lady Tigers sixgame district winning was broken by Winnsboro Tuesday. Mount Vernon girls are tied for second place in district after a 68-35 victory over Harmony Friday before a 55-40 loss at home to the Lady Red Raiders.

The Tigers are coming off a home loss against their rivals this week as the prepare to go into tonight’s game with Mineola. Winnsboro outscored Mount Vernon 23-2 in the third period leading to a 62-41 rout.

Isabel Gonzales (105-pound weight class) and Laura Barth (132) both secured gold medals in their respective weight classes at the Commerce Raise the Bar meet on January 11. Gonzales raised 225 pounds in the squat, 140 bench press, and 225 deadlift for a total 590 pounds. Barth lifted 255 in the squat, 155 bench press, and 270 deadlift for 680 pounds total.

The Lady Raiders toppled Mount Vernon 55-40 to run their District 13-3A record to 9-0. After a January 26 bye, Winnsboro will host Mineola on January 30, play at Chapel Hill on February 2 and close out the regular season at home for Quitman on February 6.

Red River Girls The Clarksville Lady Tigers continued to put on the Keileigh Edwards floor show as the sophomore 30-point total against the Detroit, Lady Eagles Wednesday night cemented her district average at just that, 30 points per game.

The Lady Tigers will play Winnsboro Tuesday, the only other team to beat the Mount Vernon girls basketball team this year in district. The Ladies walked away with a sound 6835 victory at Harmony Friday of last week, but their Tuesday game was delayed due to weather until Thursday.

The Tigers lost at Harmony Friday 65-48 and had to move Tuesday’s game at Winona to last night. Mount Vernon has a bye on Friday, so the Tigers will start their second round of district play against Winnsboro Tuesday.
